Claudia Beeny

Dr. Claudia K. Beeny, began shaping the idea behind House of Shine in February of 2008, when she wrote the first post for her blog, HighLowAha. She began with the simple goal of sharing one creative idea a day for a year. However, the more she focused on creating, the more ideas came to her. She also began to explore the idea of promoting excellence, which requires greater self-awareness.
Soon, Claudia was hosting workshops and live events for women, children and parents, which led to the creation of the SHINE framework and the Principles of Shine. Next, she wanted to share the concept with young adults and educators, so she launched House of Shine, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and began creating curriculum for K-12 students. House of Shine partnered with schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, the Girl Scouts and other nonprofit organizations to spread the Shine message. The content was good, but the House of Shine team soon realized that while schools were interested in teaching self-awareness, teachers already had so many other responsibilities, they did not have the time or resources to fully implement the Shine curriculum. House of Shine needed its own space.
In 2020—12 years after the seed for House of Shine was first planted—we broke ground on our self-discovery museum, located at 334 South Barton Street in Historic Downtown Grapevine, Texas. Now, we are focused on delivering the Shine message beyond schools and workshops, to anyone aged 5 to 95 who is interested in discovering their best self. House of Shine is one of the most unique things to do in Grapevine, and we hope you’ll visit us soon. This is our journey, and we are excited to hear about yours. We know that, like us, you will find that if you focus on your Shine, it will grow.
